English author, Martine Cullum, began her writing career late in life, on her fiftieth birthday to be precise. With both parents having worked in the book industry, she was brought up surrounded by reading material of all kinds and fell in love with English authors like Austen and Bronte and famous mystery writers like Erle Stanley Gardner, from an early age. In later years, though never losing her love of eighteenth-century romantic classics, she began to read authors like Philip Pullman, Dan Brown, J K Rowling, and Neil Gaiman, and stories started to fill her mind until at last, she had to get them down on paper.

After completing a correspondence course in 'writing a novel' Martine produced her first work, The POISE Archives: Gifts, and over the next few years completed a degree course in Creative Writing. Additionally, she set up the 'But Once' absent healing room which you can access through the 'Services' page.
Drawing on her positive mindset and previous experience working in counselling, healing, and community development, in her home town of Great Yarmouth, she wrote and self-published the remainder of the urban fantasy trilogy The POISE Archives, the cozy mystery series Moons & Runes Private Investigators, and Time to Shine, a new contemporary romance novel featuring a community Timebank.

What's next for Martine Cullum Writes? Well, were are looking into producing some larger print books for some of our readers, and you can look out for some spin-off stories featuring some of your favourite characters from Moons & Runes.
It takes a team to produce a book
Being an independent author can sometimes be lonely and difficult work, and over the years Martine gathered a team around her to help with the production and marketing of her books. (You can meet them further down this page.) The original paperback versions were magically transformed into digital format, and the first three Moons & Runes Private Investigator books are also available in audio, with more to follow.
